This application form is for the Weekdays Madrasah Classes running at Colchester Central Masjid on Priory Street.

Please read all following information carefully before completing the form.

Madrasah Rules & Regulation

1. Age requirement 

Minimum age is admission into Year 1 of school (Children must be able to go to the toilet and clean themselves independently before being allocated a place

2. Madrasah Timings: 

Monday to Thursday,  5pm – 7pm . Children must attend all four days of Madrasah.

3. Madrasah Dress Code:

1. Madrasah Uniform: Girls are to attend in Abaya/Plain long dress and head scarf. Boys to attend in thawb/Qamees and topi (Islamic hat).

2. Students’ appearance is required to strictly adhere and uphold the Islamic rules and regulations pertaining to dress code. Inadequate attire/dress (including haircuts) will result in the parent being called in and asked to take their child home.

3. Attendance/Lates & Absences:

  1. In the event of students being absent from Madrasah, parents are requested to contact the Head Teacher with the reason for absence at least 30 minutes before the start of Madrasah. All absences must be authorized by the head teacher.

  2. If the child is absent for 4 consecutive sessions without prior notice then the child will automatically be excluded from the Madrasah and all fees will be forfeited. 

  3. In the event of frequent lateness or absences, parents will be requested to meet with the Head Teacher; continuous absence without prior notice may lead to exclusion or dismissal.

  4. Please do not bring your child too early to the Madrasah nor pick up late . We will take no responsibility for children more than 10 minutes before and after Madrasah times.

  5. Students will not be allowed to leave early for any reason i.e. in order to attend extracurricular clubs and activities. They need to attend the full session unless prior arranged with the  Head Teacher

4. Madrasah Fee policies:

Admission Fee:

Admission fee of £25 is payable for all new students at the time of enrollment. Please note there is no discount/refund in admission fee.

Monthly Tuition Fee:

Please see below the fee & discount structure

1 Child:                        £27/month per child      (Annual Payment of £324)
2 Children:                   £23/month per child      (Annual Payment of £276 each)
3+ Children:                 £20/month per child      (Annual Payment of £240 each)

Note: Fee payments have been split into 12 monthly instalments for ease of payment. This payment must be made every month throughout the year regardless of school/madrasah holidays.

1. All fees are to be paid between 1st and 7th of each month. If the fee remains outstanding for more than a month, the child may be excluded permanently.

2. All fees must be paid via a monthly standing order to the following account:

3. If you have financial hardship and you find it hard to make full fee payment, please contact us in writing explaining your circumstances with evidence. We will review your application and if authorized, we may offer you some reduction in your monthly fee. Each application will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis

4. Families going on holidays during the madrasah days are expected to give us written information and are required to make full payment in advance. There will not be any reduction in fee for not attending the Madrasah during holidays. Families going on holiday without any prior information may lose their places in Madrasah.

Re-Admission Fee

Please note if your child has been excluded for any reason (non-payment of fee/bad behaviour/discipline/long absence/regular lateness etc.), and he/she has been offered the place again, a re-admission fee of £25 must be paid

Waiting List

1. If all places are full, we may offer you to be included in our waiting list. Please note having your child’s name in the waiting list is not a guarantee that your child will definitely get the place in the Madrasah

2. As soon as any place becomes available, the child from the waiting list will be offered the place in the Madrasah and Admission Fee of £25 would be payable to secure the place and be enrolled

5. Classroom Rules:

  1. Students should bring their own stationary and bag. The Madrasah will provide the relevant study materials which must be paid for by parents.

  2. Disobedient and disruptive students will be dealt with according to Madrasah Discipline Policy and disciplinary notification will be served to the parents.

  3. In the event of the Madrasah receiving repeated complaints about troublesome students, Madrasah will have no alternative but to expel the student from the Madrassah.

  4. In the event of any damages made to property of the Madrassah, etc. The concerned parent/ guardian will be called in, to compensate for damages/ losses, etc.

  5. If you wish to discuss any matters with the teacher, please request to arrange a meeting with the head teacher at a convenient time. During class time, no meeting will be allowed.

  6. Please note eating or drinking is not allowed during the class. Please check your child's bag before he/she leaves the home for Madrassah. Only water is permitted, which can only be drunk during break time not during class time.

  7. No mobile phones or any other handheld electrical device, toys or any games are allowed in the Madrasah, should any child be found with these items, they will be confiscated. Parents will need to arrange a time with the head teacher to collect the item.

  8. No verbal or physical abuse will be tolerated from parents or students towards teachers, staff or other students. In the event of such an incident, the child concerned will be expelled immediately.

  9. If you have any complaints, please put it forward in writing, we will not entertain any verbal complaints; any anonymous complaints will also not be entertained. If you have any suggestions to improve our Madrassah, please contact the head teacher, we will be more than happy to hear your views.

  10. The head teacher can exclude a child at his discretion without giving any notice or reason. (Parents can appeal against a judgement. Please state your case with reasons and you will contacted within 14 Madrasah days.)

  11. Parents & Guardians should attend the Madrasah when called by the Head Teacher.

6. Disciplinary Measures for Students

Below disciplinary measures are to be implemented by the Head Teacher or Teachers

Our madrasah has a Zero-Tolerance policy. Misbehaviour will be promptly dealt with in accordance to our disciplinary measures below. Unacceptable behaviour includes:

  • Disruption in lessons – voice raising, unnecessary comments, note passing, speaking out of turn, interrupting and eating in class
  • Bullying – a type of harassment which involves criticism, personal abuse or persistent actions that humiliate, intimidate, frighten or demean any student or group of students
  • Disrespectful behaviour towards teachers and staff, choosing to not answer the teacher, answering back and refusing to comply with reasonable requests
  • Swearing or threatening language
  • Fighting or aggressive behaviour
  • Rudeness
  • Not completed tasks set by the teacher 
  • Inappropriate use of restricted items such as mobile phones or tablets
  1.  In most cases the teacher will request the child to stop whatever he/she is doing, then if the child continues, they will be asked to stand up and on the third time he/she will be sent to the head teacher.

  2. Further measures such as giving lines to write, detentions during break time/after madrasah and temporary suspension will also be implemented when deemed necessary. 

  3. Unauthorized absences/ lateness will also lead to detentions

  4. All students will be seen as our own children and shall be given the love, care and respect to flourish in their understanding of our beautiful religion. If in the unlikely event we as a Madrasah cannot find a solution to help the student adapt and learn, then the Head Teacher will discuss with the parents, explaining all measures taken, with a view to safeguard the learning environment at the Madrasah
